👏 Emily 👏 Henry 👏 Y’all 👏 I want to start by saying thank you to the author for yet another amazing masterpiece. And honestly, I think this might be my favorite of hers so far! Every year around this time, I get so excited waiting for Henry’s new book to come out. Usually, I hold off and read it on vacation, but with all the hype and knowing it had all my favorite tropes — second chance, friends to lovers, and a dual timeline - I just couldn’t wait. And I’m so glad I didn’t! Honestly, I don’t think I would’ve been able to focus on it properly if I was distracted on the beach. Reading it at home in the quiet was so much better. I was completely immersed from the very first page. I totally zoned out and tuned out everything around me. I couldn’t get enough of it.
I have to say I think Henry’s covers can be a little misleading — I love them, don’t get me wrong! They’re gorgeous. But they look like light, breezy romances, maybe just superficial fluff. But this one was so much more than that, at least for me. It’s her most emotional book yet. Emily described it perfectly in the story — “Breathless happy-sad.” That’s exactly how I felt while reading. I had butterflies, some heartbreak, and a lot of hope. The dual timeline was the perfect way to bring out these feelings. You see what Wyn and Harriet once had and you just want them to find that again so badly. 🥺
The setting was perfect too — a cozy beach cottage in Maine. Swoon! The characters felt so real. Every one of them had layers, struggles, and deep emotions. It felt like I was part of their friend group, knowing them all so well. But my favorite part, as always with Emily Henry’s books, was the witty banter. It’s laugh-out-loud funny. I especially enjoyed Wyn and Harriet’s sarcastic jabs at each other, even if some people didn’t love that.
Honestly, I loved this audiobook so much. I listened to it in just a day and now I’m sad I’ll never get that first magic moment of discovering it all over again. I highly recommend this audiobook — it’s emotional, funny, and beautifully written. I totally think you’ll love it too! I really enjoyed it and I’ll definitely be waiting eagerly for Henry’s next book next year. 💗
OH MY GOSH!!!!!! The queen, Emily Henry has delivered yet again with an amazing book. I thought Happy Place was going to be a cute, sweet, and fluffy romance, but boy was I wrong. Happy Place written by Emily Henry was such an emotional and heart breaking book. There were so many tears involved, the pain was truly right there. I mean, the title of the book is Happy Place, the cover is so cute and summer vibes, but don’t let that fool you, this book was gut wrenching
