From the very first chapter, Lights Out had me hooked. Nevassa’s writing style feels so personal, and the story just flows effortlessly. It’s got everything you want in a dark romance — twisted characters, witty banter, sizzling chemistry, and a plot that pulls you in from page one. And let’s be real, this story isn’t just about a stalker romance — it’s got depth, humor, and even an adorable cat dad! 🐱
I honestly recommend this audiobook — it’s one of the best dark romances I’ve listened to in a while. I really enjoyed it, and I think you will too! The narration is fantastic and totally adds to the overall vibe.

He’s a hacker genius and a near-carbon copy of his psychopathic (serial killer) dad, but he’s determined to prove he’s different. By day, he hides from the world; by night, he’s a faceless masked figure posting thirst-trap videos online, loving the anonymity and admiration he gets from his fans. He’s intense, complex, and totally unhinged — in the best way possible.
Then there’s Aly, a trauma nurse with a wild twist. She spends her days dealing with the worst parts of humanity and is slowly losing herself to her job. In her free time, she’s secretly obsessed with masked men online. When her dark fantasy literally walks into her life — and breaks into her house — she’s caught between fear and excitement. Instead of calling the cops, she plots revenge, and their encounters become a twisted game of cat and mouse.
Their chemistry? Off the charts. Aly’s witty back-and-forth with Josh is addictive, funny, and totally engaging. And Josh’s interactions with her cat? Absolute gold — the perfect cat daddy moment. 😹
Honestly, they’re the perfect (and slightly unhinged) match. Josh and Aly might be twisted, but they fit together like puzzle pieces. He’s a sociopath who’s broken into her home, and she’s been chasing her dark online fantasies — which now, somehow, have become real. She never thought her comments would turn into reality, but now she’s facing exactly what she asked for. Their connection is intense and unbreakable, balancing darkness with humor so well.
And the best part? There’s no unnecessary drama, no third-act breakup — just a dark, thrilling romance that makes perfect sense for both characters. Watching them navigate this messed-up relationship was so refreshing and exciting.
Lights Out takes an unexpected turn about halfway through, shifting from a dark stalker romance into a spicy murder mystery with mafia vibes. It’s like two books in one, and while the switch was a bit jarring at first, it somehow worked. The first half is pure dark romance heaven — stalking, banter, kinks, fantastic characters. The second half, while still good, lost some of that initial spark and felt a little long. If it had been trimmed a bit, it would’ve been a perfect 5-star read for me.
Even with the pacing hiccups, I still think Lights Out is an incredible listen (or read!). It’s dark, funny, addictive, and filled with unforgettable characters and a totally unique premise that keeps you hooked. Nevassa’s writing is so captivating, I’ll definitely be checking out the next book in the series.
Oh, and I have to say — this audiobook is a must-listen. The voice used for the masked, faceless MC? Pure magic. It’s the kind of voice that melts you from the inside out, and it totally elevated the whole experience. I had a print copy too, but listening with headphones for just a few chapters took it to a whole new level. It’s dark, spicy, funny, and just overall amazing. I highly recommend giving it a listen! 🎧🔥
