https://amzn.to/3NmY06N ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden is a psychological thriller that dives into the complicated world of modern dating, all while revealing dark secrets from the past.
Sydney Shaw is a woman trying to figure out her love life in New York City. After a few failed relationships, she meets Tom Brewer, a charming doctor who seems perfect. But things get creepy when women she’s dated start turning up dead. Suddenly, she begins to wonder if her new boyfriend is hiding something darker.
The story switches between Sydney’s present-day perspective and Tom’s high school years, uncovering secrets that connect to the murders. As always with McFadden’s books, there are plenty of twists and suspense that keep you guessing until the very end.
I really recommend this book — I honestly loved it! The plot kept me hooked from start to finish and the surprises were so good. I couldn’t put it down! 😊
Some themes in The Boyfriend include trust and deception, showing how easy it is to be fooled in relationships and how trust can be broken. It also highlights the dangers of online dating and how well we really know the people we meet online. The book explores obsession and manipulation, revealing how dark some characters can become. It’s a great reminder that things aren’t always what they seem and that perception versus reality plays a big role in the story.
Freida McFadden keeps the tension high with her signature psychological suspense, making you question what’s real and what’s not.
Overall, The Boyfriend is a fast-paced, twisty read that I really enjoyed. While some might wish for deeper character development, I think the surprises and suspense make it totally worth it. If you love thrillers with lots of surprises, I definitely recommend checking this one out!

I just finished The Boyfriend by Frieda McFadden, and it was another fun, twisty read – just like the rest of her books! The only thing is, after reading a bunch of McFadden’s books, I’ve started getting a little better at predicting her twists. I have to remind myself that if this was my first book by her, I’d probably be totally shocked! Even though I’m getting more familiar with her style, it still kept me hooked.
